Acne Scar Removal

Acne Scars form if an infection develops in acne and the skin repairs itself so that it remains healthy but unfortunately leaves pigmented and / or indented marks on the affected area, removing them can be both difficult and costly to remove.

Most treatments for acne scars can be bought in a shop ranging from creams to micro needling. Creams or skin masks are the most commonly used for treating acne scarring which can (but not always) work but take a long time for any results to begin to show as a big percentage of creams don’t get absorbed by the skin. Creams are, therefore, wasted and so are not economical.

Another treatment that can be purchased to treat acne scars is the derma roller. This is a device for skin needling; you gently roll the derma roller over the scarred area of skin which opens the pores of your epidermis making it believe that it is damaged triggering the production of collagen and elastin which resulting in the damaged skin healing itself.

After using the derma roller the pores on the skin are open for as long as which is the best time to use creams as they are a lot better absorbed when the pores are open as opposed to when the pores are closed. This reduces the waste in creams and increases the effectiveness of the derma roller.

There are more extreme methods to remove acne scars however these are all expensive and have to be carried out by professionals and then they’re not even guaranteed to work! These include; Micro dermabrasion, laser treatments, chemical peals and also skin needling can be done by a professional more vigorously using a longer needle size and numbing cream.

In my experience in treating acne scars I have found that the most result effective and cost effective treatment is derma rolling at home as it is relatively cheap and as it works by inducing the healing process is the most natural way to heal acne scars.
