Mole Removal Procedures

There are several types of mole remove procedures, and they can normally be classified into surgical, laser and homemade. Excision represents the surgical mole remove method; this therapy involves cutting the mole and the skin around it so that the formation may not regenerate. Depending on how deep the mole goes, the cutting will be more serious or only superficial. Doctors can approximate but not determine exactly the size of the cut, because most of the medical tests identify the size of the nevi, but not their depth. Scarring usually occurs in the case of deeper wounds that require stitches.

If the surgical mole remove is superficial, no stitches are used, and the doctor will cauterize the wound in order to stop the bleeding and speed up the healing. In this category of interventions, we have to refer to the one known as shaving, which simply removes the mole from the surface of the skin. The procedure is very simple and little traumatic for the tissues, but it has the disadvantage that it may leave mole cells behind that could cause a regrowth. Therefore, the doctor has to weigh the pros and cons of shaving the moles or turn to some other form of procedure.

Laser treatments for mole remove purposes represent a modern less invasive alternative to surgery. The use of the light beam is ideal for flat small moles, but less recommendable for larger raised ones. The light cannot get through the tissues and destroy the mole root especially if it is very large. Thus, instead of laser treatment, your doctor may advise for surgery in order to perform a complete mole removal. Therefore, according to some specialists, the efficiency of laser therapy is not completely proved.

Last but not least, the natural or homemade mole remove process is carried out by means of natural remedies available around the house. Castor oil, fig stems extract, honey, vinegar, cauliflower or pineapple juice represent cures that have been part of traditional home medicine for hundreds of years. However, tradition doesn’t make the procedures safe, because the attempts of removing moles at home have often resulted in a deterioration of the health condition and even the appearance of cancer. Such unfortunate cases are explained by the cellular reactions triggered by some natural remedies in malignant moles. Consequently, the medical approach also remains the safest and most serious one.
